Ivey’s Pierre L. Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship and IBK Capital Corp sponsored the 19th edition of Canada’s premier business plan competition over two days in January 2017. The competition saw participation from schools around the world.
Over the two days, the nine-member teams honed their business development skills from some of the great minds in the entrepreneurship field.
Highlights from the competition included:
Fireside chats with noted Canadian Entrepreneur Anton Rabie, HBA ’94 of Spin Master Ltd, one of the largest and most innovative toy companies in the world.
A workshop on developing global brands by Albert Behr from Behr & Associates.
In the end, Team Ivey took top spot with Aunt Mary’s Corp. – a unique set of powdered beverage mixes capable of emulsifying and counteracting the foul taste of essential and cannabinoid oils. Members of Team Ivey include Ryan Bauer, Erik Lapointe and Michael Palumbo, who are Ivey 2017 MBA candidates and are now working on their venture at the newly announced Western Accelerator.
Team REVOJel from Thammasat University(Thailand) won the second prize, while Team Grox Industries from the University of Arkansas took the third place.
